Robert James Terry Library

Texas Southern University's library was named after Robert James Terry interim president of TSU from 1986-1987.

The Robert James Terry library provides six major public access service areas. Reference, Circulation/Reserves on the first floor, Serials on the second floor; the Learning Resources Center is on the third floor, and the Business and Economics Library is located on the fifth floor with the pharmacy Reading Room located on the first floor of the Pharmacy building.

Many students pass through the library everyday on their way to the computer lab, the periodicals section, or to study in one of the study rooms.

The library consist of so much more. The principal research collections offers over 264,254 volumes of print materials and 464,308 micro forms are housed in a centrally located facility which provides seating for 900 users. The building consist of 135,000 square feet.

The most intriguing area of the library would have to be the Special Collections section located on the first floor. The Special Collections consist of the Charles Hartman Collection, Barbara Jordan Archives, Texas Southern University Archives, HBCU Archives, John Biggers African Art Collection, and the University Jazz Collection. The Special Collections Section has every printed issue of Jet, Ebony , and Essence magazine. Access to library materials is available on the web.
